In the medical world, there is still no better way to test for colon cancer apart from a colonoscopy. A recent study that was published in Canada found that even though this particular procedure is still only about 60-70% accurate in identifying colon cancer, it’s still better than not knowing at all, and before it’s too late.

In comparison to another well known disease, it’s well known that the mammogram is only about 25% accurate in detecting potential breast cancer.

A colonoscopy is recommended every 10 years after the age of 50, and should be carried out by a Gastroenterologist rather than anyone else who is not a specialist, as they know what they’re doing with that light metal tube. Yes, it’s invasive, but it’s done under a general anaesthetic, so you don’t feel a thing. ?The only difficulty for some people is the fasting required the day before, which is a small price to pay for knowing that your colon is clear and healthy.

Colon cancer is found in 1 of 18-20 people, of which about up to half of those will die from it. So it’s best to eat a good diet high in fibre and minimal processed foods, and have your colon checked out every 10 years as a preventative measure. Regular colon cleansing will also make sure that there is very little build up of toxins in your gut, along with taking probiotics duting or after every colon cleanse to replenish the friendly bacteria.

There’s been a lot in the news in the last few days about colon health and what can be done to either improve this or prevent bad colon health in the first instance.

And it’s being said as I’ve said been saying all along in my website at www.coloncleanseme.com, that it’s what you eat that determines the health of your colon. So the ideas on the website are not that far off being correct.

High protein and high fat diets make the colon work overtime in order to make the high amounts of stomach acid needed in order to digest this food, especially if it’s burger and fries all the time. The colon has a major part to play in helping the body maintain the optimal functioning of other organs in the body. More electrolyes and minerals are needed to digest this type of diet, and which over time, actually places a heavy burden on other organs like the liver.

The best book I’ve ever found to explain this fact in more detail, is The China Study. It’s very well written and backed up with science to prove the fact that a high animal protein diet causes cancer, and is one of the main messages I’ve taken from this book. The authors explain the experiments they carried out with rats in the labs, where they were able to turn the cancer gene on and off by merely changing the diet that was fed to these rats, from a high animal protein diet to a non-animal protein diet.

Check out what this book has to say further on this subject here. It will be well worth your time to read this for the sake of your future health.

Once you have sorted out your diet, you’ll need to do a colon cleanse in order to clear out all the old feval matter that has been accumulating in your colon. Take a look at www.coloncleanseme.com for some of the best products available to achieve this safely.

Latest Colon News

A new study out today shows that there are ten times more bacteria living in the human intestines than was previously found.

This new research from the Standford University School of Medicine roughly calculates that there are at least if not more than 5,600 different species or types of bacteria living in the colon, which is quite a bit more than the 500 that was reckoned before. These many varied strains live in small quantities and feed off the complex carbohydrates which human digestive enzymes are not influenced by. Some types perform useful roles like the production of vitamin K but together, they prevent pathogens from invading the body.

What this study shows is that there is some good news for people who are concerned about the use of antibiotics and what impact these may have on the bacteria in the colon. It is long known that prolonged use of antibiotics can remove the friendly bacteria in the gut, but this bacterial balance does come back after a period of time.

A new study indicates that a fat cell gene may well reduce the risk of colon cancer in some people.

The study has uncovered evidence of a genetic link between colon cancer and a fat cell gene. This brings the relationship between obesity, insulin resistance and colon cancer risk even closer.

This is Colon Cancer risk and not necessarily a cause.

People with high levels of a hormone called adiponectin are linked with lower rates of obesity and insulin resistance. People with lower levels are linked with higher rates. The gene that produces adiponectin is the one that has been discovered to have links to a higher risk of colon cancer.

This information on Reducing the Risk of Colon Cancer comes from the Journal of the American Medical Association published in October 2008.

Colon Cancer kills ~680,000 people worldwide every year. The disease is treatable if discovered early. The current advice is to ask for a colonoscopy test at the age of fifty or above.
